Privacy Statement
CrimeNet has a firm commitment to privacy principles. We do not use cookies to gather information on visitors to our site. We do not keep details of credit cards. Persons entering details of missing persons or stolen property are required to give their names and
addresses for authentication purposes only. However, we give our absolute guarantee that these details will be treated with the strictest confidence and will never be passed to any other person or organisation, unless required to do so by law.
If you request to be put on our email mailing list, we will record your email address and demographic information (like your postcode, age and income

Credit Card Security
Any credit card transaction with us is directed (in an encrypted format) via an electronic gateway to
a major bank. The transaction is between you and the bank. It is an Internet EFTPOS transaction. We guarantee we do not
view your credit card details. After the transaction, the bank sends us the name
on the credit card together with the first few digits of your card for bank reconciliation purposes only.
Accuracy of Records
We only record details of criminals where the person has pleaded guilty or has been convicted by a judge or jury, of a criminal offence. Details of criminal convictions are public records in most Western democracies and it is a generally accepted principle of privacy rights that this information should always be accessible. We do our best to maintain accurate records. All entries are
independently checked and verified. However, if you believe the information relating to any person listed on this site, is inaccurate or incorrect, you may request a correction by
contacting our records department.
Our policy is to make corrections within one working day of receipt of your
request, subject to evidence of the correction required. You can send your
request for correction, along with necessary documentary evidence to:

We work within the law
In democratic countries, criminal court procedures are open to the public. Various Australian courts have ruled that criminal records are public documents. However, minor convictions are expunged after a certain time under "spent convictions" rules. We have set up systems to remove conviction details in accordance with spent convictions requirements.
We do not seek to take on any police functions. Our policy is to assist the police at all times. We encourage persons with information relating to crime and criminals to always contact their nearest law enforcement agency. In Australia, they may ring Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
